Joplin Trails Coalition Meeting September 18, 2008 President Perry Johnson called the meeting to order at 6:40pm. No further enhancement grants for the feds. Currently it looks like the final 12 miles will have to be paid for privately unless more money becomes available. Cost of aprox $30,000 per mile for compaction rock. Still no response from the National Guard. We are waiting on MOdot approval for phase one. There may be money available from the DNR recreation trails program. Currently there is no more federal money that we are aware of for the final 12 miles. Corporate sponsors are needed. Gary has a presentation packet ready to go Pay pal is going extremely well with maple leaf. Currently we have 45 riders pre registered compared with 66 pre registered before the ride last year. The ride will be sag supported. Bathroom placement will be in addition to bathrooms at maple grove church along with Jasper Fastrip store. Jim will add a link to the weather on both websites. We have 2 confirmed sponsors. Empire has agreed to print the maps. Anyone with sponsorship leads please precede. A friendly face making the request often does the trick Minimal t-shirt design changes. Color should be earth tone with green lettering and an orange leaf. Also include our websites. There are extra t-shirts from last year. There should be 7-8 rest stops. We need rest stop help and ice chests Sonny may not be on board as our mechanic this year. Kellogg has bought 50 helmets for the kid’s rodeo. Gary will be sending out a maple leaf media release. Motels will be posted on the website. Pepsi cola has been contacted about donating an energy drink for the riders. Prizes will be awarded before the ride excluding the poker run prize(s). Perry Johnson presented Ed and Braden with a pen for their work on the Ruby Jack signs. We are continuing to see vandalism in Oronogo and Carthage. It has been reported to the Police. A bike patrol could be started in 2009. We have many members that have not paid annually. We need to make a greater attempt at collection. Joplin will be repairing the Frisco trail just north of Zora in time. Webb city has mowed their portion however Joplin has not mowed their section. Contact Joplin public works and/or Roark. Crosswalks are needed at all trail crossing on the Frisco. The parking lot at St. Louis and Zora needs a street light. The St. Louis information board needs repaired. Re: the Sarcoxie line. The railroad has not turned it over yet. If connected to the ruby jack it would be the second longest rail to trail in Missouri Respectfully submitted, by JTC Secretary
